We spend more money on animals than people (charities). Maybe we should put people first? Hell, i'd give scientists free reign to do as they pleased, as long as it was kept to animals and not humans (unless something was pretty much perfected.) You can bet we'd be closer to a cure for cancer. In the US treatments are kept behind due to economic reasons (i.e. the corps. behind them won't make teh $$ back) which sucks. In Europe, you can vaccinate against some forms of cancer by developing a custom vaccination form the patients own cells. Not economic, but it saves lives. And at the end of the day, thats what it's all about. Screw animals, Heal PPL

Was this research funded by the Scottish to legitimize their sheep hearding activities?

As long as these sheep don't try to take 15% of my job, I'm fine with it.

PPffftttt - I'm sick of hearing from the media how much us scientists are going to fuck up. Sicker still of a media that inflames a paranoid public with the wrong kind of information and scare stories. Also the religious right can stick it straight up their corn holes. I don't hear the diabetics whinning about their insulin and I sure as shit never seen the parents of a kid with cancer turn down medication and therapy because they were "animal tested or derived". Yes it's shitty. Yes it's perhaps not a great model because the biochemistry's different but unless you non-science types want to get off your asses and come up with something better thats the way it works.

I watched this program and all I could think of was Ancestor. People say this progress is not natural but if we were not meant to do it, then we wouldn’t be able to. Responsible use is the key. The burger grown in a Petri dish the week before was weird.
